We left Ashby, MN this morning and we drove through vast miles of very flat farmland in western Minnesota and eastern North Dakota.  We had another good travel day, and arrived in our campground At Garner Park, Sugar Loaf Bottoms.  This is about 17 miles south of Mandan, ND and it is well known for the Lewis and Clark Expedition.  They came up the Missouri River from St. Louis and arrived south of Mandan in October, 1804.  They settled in this area for the winter.  We plan to visit some of the historic places that they inhabited during that time. We met our park hosts, Glenn and Glo Finck, who happen to be very good friends of ours!  We hike with Glenn in Arizona and have known them for about ten years.

This is our site for the week, or however long we stay here.  Glenn and Glo came over to relax and catch up.  We are perched right on the Missouri River, and they tell us that we will have beautiful sunsets here.  It was cloudy tonight, so we will see it before we leave.  Glenn is taking us fishing in the morning, and we will either come home with some walleyes or 'a fish story'.
