Monday September 11, 2017

Today is the anniversary of 9/11 and we all need to reflect and remember all those lost, and many people affected by that terrible attack on our nation.
We had such a beautiful day today, with no wind, like yesterday, so Larry and Elaine Larson wanted to see what geo-caching was all about.  We went to Ashby and started our very fun day on the Central Lakes Bike Trail.  This is an impressive system, that has connecting trails to it, and you could go for many miles on it.  This trail is paved, so again, we were thrilled with that.  We biked 22 miles and found 40 caches along the way.  We even found a great little restaurant in Evansville, our farthest destination.  We passed several little lakes along the trail, and that all added to the beauty of it all.  We are noticing the sunsets here are more red, due to the smoke in the skies west of here.  We even had a lot of haze last night, so the wildfires out west are felt here in Minnesota.

This grain elevator was converted to living quarters for a family.  I'd say that is quite unique!

We ate lunch at the Back Roads Steak House in Evansville, MN.  It was wonderful and it rejuvenated us for our trek back to our starting point.  You can see a tinge of color in the tree behind the sign.

This is a good sign that we are in MinnEEEsotAAAAAA!

We met and talked to this fellow for quite a while.  He said he had biked from Anchorage, Alaska, rode the ferry from Skagway to Prince Rupert, and is biking back to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  And we thought 21 miles was a lot to do today!  We leave tomorrow for North Dakota.  We hear the fish are biting!  We've had a great time with Larry and Elaine and will see them in Arizona.  I also think we have them hooked on geo-caching!
We leave with one more thought for all the people in Irma's path and we are hearing from some of our friends that they have been spared.  I hope that holds true for all of them.
